Can you imagine what dating was like before online dating and mobile phones? Some of us in our twenty something's don't really know what it was like.
I had a mobile phone way before I was old enough to go out clubbing. And I often think about what people did before phones.
Before phones you would have went out with a pen and paper in your bag and hoped that you could write your number on a cute guys hand and that maybe he would call you? Right? I can only imagine.
What about how you met someone? When we didn't have internet people would have to go out and actually meet someone. A sporting club maybe or at the beach, out with friends at the pub?
These days dating has been made so much easier for us, but it has in a way made things a bit harder. It's so easy to give out your number, but it's also so easy for someone to delete it too. We spend so much time waiting for a message or a call, and internet dating hasn't helped make things easier either. With internet and now smart phones it's made dating more complicated.
How you ask? Users of online dating sites, iMessage and other free messaging apps can now see when the recipient has read their messages. And with online dating someone can get the wrong idea about you and think you are someone you're not. Then after talking a lot and planning to meet, you don't meet their expectations and whilst you think things went great. You soon find out that they just aren't interested anymore.
It's so easy these days to turn someone down without any explanation whatsoever. Leaving you with no idea what's wrong. Do you talk too much? Did you smell bad? Bad breath? Who knows.
Weighing up all the good and the bad about the dating scene in 2014 I think I would like to go back to the simpler days before online dating everything was straight forward and face to face. And there was definitely no dumping via text message.
