How To Leave A First Date Early

Bad first date? Don’t know what to do? Don’t worry, where there is a will there is a way. You cannot expect every date to go as planned. As long as you play the part right, leaving a first date early is not as hard as it seems. Using one of the following excuses, you will be out of there in no time.

Feeling Sick
Saying you are ‘unwell’ is a common excuse used in many social situations. When you feel like the date is going nowhere, excuse yourself and head to the restroom. Stay in there for about 10 minutes and when you come back explain that you are not feeling well. You can either blame it on the food or say that you have not been feeling well for a while. Either way you will be able to get out of your horrid date quick as no one wants to be around sick people.

Double Book Yourself
When you arrive on your date, explain that you have double booked yourself without realising. Let them know that you may have to leave early. With this in mind, see how the date is going and if you feel that it is going horribly wrong, then put your plan into action. Apologise that you have to leave early and let them know you that will be in contact with them. Keeping the ball in your court will avoid any contact from them first.

Sudden Crisis
This would have to be one of the oldest tricks in the book. Have a friend on standby and get them to contact you during your date. Only take the call if you are struggling to enjoy the date and you want to leave as soon as possible. Once you get off the phone, tell your date that you have to leave as you have a crisis that you must attend to.

Early Morning Rise
If you have an evening date, let your date know that you need to get up extremely early the next morning. This will help you leave earlier and avoid the night dragging if you are not keen.

Spill Something
This can be quite tricky. Spilling something without making it too obvious is a task in itself. If you decide to do this, make sure you wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. When you make the spill, make sure your look embarrassed. Explain you will have to go home straight away to get the stain out. Do a quick hurry to avoid any questions from your date.

Just Be Honest
Tell your date that it was lovely to meet them but you don’t think it should go any further. Sometimes it takes a bit of sorting to find the right soul mate and it’s ok if you don't find the perfect one on every first date. Dates are like job interviews - if they do not meet the criteria, do not drag it on and keep their hopes up, just be honest and let them go.

Hopefully you do not experience many horrid first dates, but when you do, there are many excuses waiting to be used.
