Research conducted at a University in New Jersey has shown that during the initial attraction phase of a relationship the human brain displays increased blood flow in certain areas and high concentrations of receptors for dopamine (which is connected with euphoria, craving and addiction).
So, when you fall in love with someone and feel as though you are 'addicted' to them and can't get enough, you most likely are!
At a University in London researchers found that people who are in love have lower levels of serotonin, and that neural circuits connected with how we assess other people are suppressed. This proves that the old saying 'Love is blind' is actually true!
And what about how your friends or family seem to poke fun at your love crazed behaviour, saying that you are 'obsessed' with whoever you are in love with? They are probably correct, as the lower levels of serotonin are the same as those found in people with obsessive-compulsive disorders!
So, you might as well face it, you are probably addicted, blind and obsessed. But so what, right? When you're in love nothing else matters. And there is an explanation for that too. I won't bother you with anymore details, though. Just enjoy being in love.
Oh, what a feeling...
