Funny thing about that. In life there are first times for everything, and yes that includes dating and falling in love. Your first date can leave a few butterflies swimming in your stomach until the main event ensures. Some top tips on surviving your first date.

1. Be Yourself

The best and most authentic tip ever. Dress and groom yourself the way you normally do. True love means that your new mate will accept you for who you are. Don't go overboard on the make up to impress. You'll be uncomfortable in your own skin if you do. Be yourself. Just relax about it.

2. Be Early

Being late on your first date does not leave a good first impression. If you're running a little late, call your date and be honest. Don't get flustered, be sincere. It does not make you important for you to arrive second in such circumstances.

3. Quiet Please

It is ideal to choose a venue where you can hear each other speak. Getting tougher I know, yet there are small, intimate bars when bands are not playing. Just plan ahead.

4. Who's Paying?

See if you and your date can go halves. Have cocktails first. One of you pays for the cocktails at the bar, while the other can pay for the dinner in fairly equal amounts. This is fair.

5. Have an Open Mind

Just go with the flow, and you'll be fine. If kissing and touching happens, beware. These things need not be rushed. You and your date need to get to know one another first. No judgements about what they think of you. Let it be and have fun.

6. What Are You Eating?

Do not eat awkward foods on your first date. Keep it light and simple. If you're not accustomed to chopsticks, go to a non-chopstick eating establishment. You'd hate to get food on your date. No different to avoiding pizza with double cheese. Enough said, I rest my case.
