One word, and yet the meanings that come with it are full of variety. Just like how the dictionary defines the word crush, people have also numerous ways of how they perceive a person whom they consider their crush.

I recently found myself being interested in a guy whom I saw in a public transport vehicle. Well, I do not really remember all his features, but I caught myself looking at him more times than I normally glance at strangers. Something about the way he viewed the surroundings kept me off guard. Guys getting lost in their own world is a quite a common thing, but the way his eyes were concentrated at something I don’t know made me feel very curious. By the way, he also had his earphones plugged. Being curious about him made me think about whom I have a crush on at the moment…

Then I thought of my crush from another country.
Oh well. The randomness of certain events is plainly weird. You cross paths with a stranger, and for a few moments you try to sketch a few possibilities. What if our eyes met? What if we bumped into each other again? What if he noticed me? What if he notices me? What if he is noticing me?

What ifs. Very interesting, right?

With the web of what ifs slowly beginning to give you that giddy feeling and a tiny spark of hope, your mind pushes and pulls you to venture into the unknown or stay where you are. You challenge yourself by imagining both the best and the worst possible circumstance. Your invisible blueprints have no guarantee, yet you have that idea of wanting to try - of wanting to see if things will work.

I heard him speak when he tells the driver to stop near the sidewalk. I wondered if I would ever be in the same public vehicle again, but I stop myself from wishing. Whatever should happen will happen. Then I think about another what if…what if he also wondered the same thing?

(verb): Come out better in a competition, race, or conflict.
